Take care of your petrol brushcutter
Five minutes here and there, and it will pay you back. Here are the habits that really matter.
- Only use fresh fuel mix
Two-stroke mix goes stale and separates within weeks: past a month it starts poorly, fouls the engine and makes it run hot. Mix small batches, keep to the ratio in the manual, and drain the tank before long storage.
- Clean the air filterMonthly
Cutting dust clogs the filter fast. A clogged filter means higher fuel use, lost power and hard starting. Pop the cover off without tools, tap it out or wash it in soapy water, and dry it fully before refitting.
- Clear the cooling finsAfter each use
Grass and soil build up around the cylinder and stop air from cooling the engine — the number-one cause of overheating. After each session, blow or brush out the engine housing and the air intake grilles.
- Check and sharpen the bladeAfter each use
A dull blade strains the engine and kicks back dangerously on woody stems; a cracked blade must be replaced, never reused. Before each use, check the edge, look for cracks, and make sure the blade nut is tight.
- Check the spark plug each seasonYearly
At the start of the season, pull the plug: black, wet electrodes point to a rich mix or a dirty filter. Clean the deposits, set the gap per the manual, and replace it if the insulator is cracked.
- Prepare for winter storageYearly
Before winter, run the engine until it uses up the fuel in the carburettor (stagnant two-stroke gums up the diaphragms). Clean the machine, grease the cutting head, and store it dry and away from frost.

Everything about petrol brushcutter manuals and repair
Most of the faults that take a petrol brushcutter out of service early can be fixed. You just need the right manual, the ability to read the symptom, and the compatible part: that is all here, for every listed model.
When something breaks, we point you to the most likely cause and the video that explains it, without ever diagnosing for you. And since prevention is better, a few regular maintenance habits are enough to space out the faults.
